Dropping 1 tooth will make a big difference. Since it is so cheap and easy to do I would try dropping one tooth first and if you want to go lower then drop 2 teeth. The torque multiplication at the rear wheels will make it accelerate quicker and feel like it has more bottom end in it.

I got by with keeping the chain the same length and and going to end of the adjustment limit. I would advise taking a link out if you have time.

I don't think I would go down 2. After you go down 1, if it's not enogh try 1 or 2 up in rear. Front makes a way bigger difference. I'm going to get 22" tires for mine for mine and 1 down in front and 1 up in rear should bring back to stock final gear ratio (close enough) I haven't actually done the calculation yet, but when I did it for my brother on his 400ex, it came out to a very minor percentage higher geared than stock.(bigger tires make it higher geared, so we did this just to compensate) Since the z has a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket it will make a little bigger difference so I should end up a little lower geared than stock.

That's a pretty cool chart mucky. Now I don't have to do my calculations. I see my idea was right about being slightly lower geared. Looks like if I could put a 20 tooth up front and a 25 out back and a plus 1000 rpm cdi I could top out at about 176 mph lol. I would just need someone to tow me to about 25-30mph just to be able to take off and probably need about 5 miles of strip to get there.
