Default BLOWN LT250R QUESTION???

Looking to find out if there should be any lateral play in the connecting rod at the bearing inside the cases??? I can slide it side to side.

Thanks!

Yes it will slide side to side. And you will feel a little play holding the rod and moving it back and forth. But you should have no play up and down.

do the ping test.

pretty sure you need to have the crank out of the cases.

hold the crank up by the rod,
in your hand,
then hit the top of the rod with a RUBBER mallet / hammer.
if it makes a "ping" or "pinging" noise, its bad...

if its really quiet, its good to go.

i've always heard that a ping is good. a thud sound means you have a cracked crank. you might want to look into that.
