I've spent several hours here the last few days before joining.....my wife and I just bought a home in RI with ovr 5 acres....the back lot goes into another 50,all ridable, the prior owners ran Honda Forman 500s and highly recommends them....I've been lookin into a new quad for a few weeks and found the Eiger 400 was a nice machine. I noticed that just about every quad out there somebody somewhere has or had a prob with em. Heres my work load.....pulling a utility trailer of wood, light stump pulling, and most of all joy riding.
Im looking in the 400 class for starters and plan on going up in the future.
Any comments or advice is Thankful.

I just bought a 2005 Eiger 400 about 4 months ago. In my opinion. ITS AWESOME!!! I ride trails that are pretty intense. Ive never pulled anything yet. I am putting on a winch in the next month and gettng a snow plow. Ive heard great things regarding its power. I'll let you know how my experience is when i get it all set up. I would say its a great starting quad for what it sounds like your doing. For anything heavier though, Ive hear great thing about the king quad. Let me know how it goes.

I have an 04 Eiger 5 speed and it has been great. I changed the stock tires to 26 inch mudlites and added a jet kit. I have yet to have any problems with it. If you are going to work it I would go with the 5 speed though. I think it is just better for working and nothing like having low first gear for pulling stumps. Don't try to pull stumps out in reverse. The reverse is weak for that. I used mine for plowing snow in the winter and no problem. I believe tow capacity is 992 lbs. Now for the fun part they are peppy for a 400. Fuel mileage is amazing on this bike. The other day running logging roads all day at around 50 km(30 miles) per hour I went 90 miles before I switched to reverse. I could not believe it. Anyway great bike if you are looking for a 400 class bike.

I have a Vinson Auto (not an Eiger) and used it to pull out some old, deeply rooted shrubs. It worked great. I would suspect the Eiger would pull well too. However, I'd be very careful about pulling stumps of any size more than very small.

It is hard to buy a bad quad these days. In the 400 class i recommend the Kodiak 450. It has all the flagship model features like selectable 4x4 and selectable diff lock, lcr display, IRS, Hi/Lo, etc all in a small very nimble package. My uncle has one and tows a swisher mower with it through 7 foot tall weeds (and no I am not exaggerating by even one inch, I have driven it my self through such conditions with the mower in tow).
Not saying the Eiger isn't good, I am sure it is--just saying give the Kodiak at least a look and drive.
