Isn't it bad for a ute to go full throttle?

Default Isn't it bad for a ute to go full throttle?

I've been hearing guys say they pin their throttle on their big bore utes and then they say "why is my quad not running right?" I've never pinned the throttle on my King Quad, it just seems to hard on a utility engine to constantly be giving it that much work and abuse. What do you guys think?

No, pin away. Of course that does not mean you can ride from LA to NY with the throttle wide open but under normal use full throttle should not be a problem.

Actually I have always been told a little full throttle is good for an engine. It allows helps some of the carbon build up in the cylinder to be blown off. Your not going to be able to hold full thottle very long, 70 mph comes up real quick on these big bores. Like CBF2 said as long as your not keeping it pinned for long periods of time you won't hurt anything. Remember they race these thinge across the Baja 1000 and have the throttle pinned most of the way and they have few engine failures in a very harsh desert environment.

Well that sounds better than what I thought, but I never have enough room to pinned the throttle on my yard, I can get up to 50mph before I run out of room. I have taken it down my dirt road a few times, but I really don't feel like I belong on a public road event though it there's hardly any traffic.

It wont hurt it at all. The thing that hurts motors is over revving, not full throttle. All quads with a cdi ignition have rev limiters, so the chance of overrevving is nill.
Ive seen guys pin the throttle , in nuetral, at a stand still...for minutes. Those old hondas are still running, and dont seem to be hurting for the no load revving.
Most of the quads are designed with a too small bore in the carb, on purpose, to increase the velocity of the fuel,(which increases torque and throttle response) and to limit the amount of air, it can swallow. This works as a limiter as well.
As long as a load is applied, it shouldnt hurt the motor to run wide open.
