Default Getting Test ECM for 2005 KQ's

OK guys....here are some preliminary results:

Surface = hard pack dirt
Quad = Standard configuration 2005 KingQuad after magic serial number
Old ECM part # 32920-31G01
New ECM Part # 32920-31G02
Track distance = Approx 500'

Results:

New ECM
Run1 = 53mph @ 8.6 sec
Run2 = 53mph @ 8.9 sec
Run3 = 53mph @ 8.8 sec

Old ECM
Run1 = 53mph @ 9.4 sec
Run2 = 53mph @ 9.4 sec

These results are by no means scientific. Also I did feel the bottom end lag was much better. The resulting max mph was the same for all runs which I found interesting. More testing and second / third opinions (other riders) to follow later. I plan on going out on Wednesday for sure and maybe later today (not sure). I hope this helps. Sorry for the delay but there were some things that took higher priority...I know that is hard to believe but true. Thanks for your patience.

Boat...no clue on the $$. I am not in the industry other than a consumer. I do have a very good friend that is a service mgr but I would guess you would need to check your local distributor for availability and price. I don't even know if it is available. My friend did tell me that they are probably going to use this one on the '06's but probably not make a recall on the '05's when I talked to him last night. Personally, I don' t think it is a huge issue, others may disagree. I would not spend the $$ if it were that high. I would probably put it elsewhere...but that is me. I really like my quads and enjoy them when I can. Thanks for the response. Enjoy

An ECM for this machine costs $300. I don't know, from these results thus far, if I won't just wait on the Yoshi.

Just curious...is Yoshi programmable? What do they say the reason's will be to install theirs? Thanks

Yes, I believe it's programmable for fuel and timing. Do you, razor, believe this ECM is worth $300 for someone who wants to be able to pull a wheelie with little effort, get a better jump on some drag races and just enhance the fun factor a little bit?

I think I answered that question a couple ago..

"I would not spend the $$ if it were that high. I would probably put it elsewhere...but that is me. I really like my quads and enjoy them when I can. Thanks for the response. Enjoy"

If $$ was not an issue, then go for it. I am saving for some other accessories, but then, I already have the ECM's. Everyone rides differently. Twenty years ago (or maybe 40) I would have not hesitated (choice words). Today, I look at other things to buy. Either way, maybe some more data to what you can expect and other opinions (hope to have some this week) and you can make your decision as to what you want to spend your $$ for. I did see a marked improvement for the time/distance data. I walked it off late this afternoon and came up with approx 500 feet. I hope this helps.

Yeah, I understand that you already said you didn't want anything to do with it for that kind of money, but for my situation I previously mentioned, would it work? Are wheelies possible by just nailing it?

I felt if I had pulled on the bars I could have pulled the machine up. I was really after out of the hole times. When I get out again on Wed I will do wheelie tests. However, I won't see how much more air I can get on a jump . It did seem to pull pretty hard out of the hole. I tightened up the suspension on it tonight after tests so it will be interesting to see how it does. This machine is my wifes so I had it set a little soft. Kingme and I and maybe a couple of other folks from UT will be swapping the ECM's on Wed. We will see what happens. Thanks

I live in Lehi and I would love to go try the new ECM Unit. Just let me know where and what time or I can meet you at your place.
