Getting Test ECM for 2005 KQ's
#11
Hi again. Everything I speak of is what I have been told by Suzuki. The service mgr at the local Dealership is keeping the old ECM's and not sending them in until I/we determine if the new ones are what is needed. I will be taking my machines in on Saturday, Nov 4th (tomorrow). I don't know if I will be able to take them out the same day or not. I have been gone for 3 weeks and have some catch up to do. I will take them out during next week for a couple of days though. Kingme, if you are interested in going, Thursday looks good to me and maybe Tuesday or Wednesday if you are interested. Thanks for the concern. The Doc's all say I am doing great! That's it for now guys...I will let you know what I find. Thanks all!

What does "forget about the lawyers" mean ? Does it relate to the thought that the "detuned" ecm was on purpose and installing a good one would make the KQ dangerously powerfull or fast ? Cause ide have to say thats a crock of laughter! Look at the other fast quads out there, the race bikes the BF 750 the Bomb 800 ( especially the bomb 800, has anyone ridden one yet) they are hecka quiker than the KQ so why would suzuki be concerned and nobody else. By the way that Bomb 800 is wicked sick fast, itll smoke smoke just about anything out therem me and my cousin watched one smoke a new Raptor 700 and got to ride the 800, on pavement only, they wouldnt let us get on dirt, guess they didnt want it dirty, anyway the KQ will never be as sick as that bike, so I dont think it was planned to be detuned at all, i think it just happened that way, poor design just like the reverse and air filter and tie rod probslems.

Well said RG! To much nonsense in that post to reply to it.
I think everyone will be suprised when the fix comes for the low end lag when ever that my be, they'll see how good the powerband on the King truely is.

I hate to sound like I'm defending Zex but I've heard the Bomber is pretty sick (does that mean bad, or great, or just plain ol mean??).
I'm following this pretty close myself. The reverse thing has kept me off a KQ and I almost gave in and bought a Brute Force but I'm not really sold on them and really!!!, really!! want a King.
A lot of my buddies have modded 650 prairies and the Dyna CDI has made them pretty impressive with the clutch kit. They'll wheelie from a dead stop and they have that locker.
We've seen some stock Kings at the sled pulls and my Eiger actually out did em. The dealer says they have a rev limiter that kicks in when the weight gets too much. I think he had something wrong in the fuel delivery department.
The Kaw dealer has gone so far as to offer me a new 650 Brute for 6k out the door!!! With a winch!!! The suzuki dealer still doesnt know me even tho I know a bunch of his employees and am in there every couple weeks. I hope this guy goes belly up and a good dealer takes his place. I have to drive an hour to get parts for my eiger even tho this guy is 15 min away. He knows nothing bout any problems with the King so I get all my info here.
And YES, razor has been at the forefront of the pack on the bottom end lag thing. Hes our point man.

Total agreement here. The people at Dyna told me that once you get over the 500 size they all start detuning at low end. Thats the bread and butter of their business. The Kaws are so bad that if you ride them too slow they overheat from the timing being too retarded.
A large chunk of the price of a quad is the liability factor, motorcycles too. My guess is the bomber has that built into the price and threw caution to the wind in order to grab some market share.
