Default Disable Reverse Rev Limiter?

I just purchased a black 06 Vinson auto that I'll be using to push snow this winter.
For various reasons, I would like to disable the reverse limiter.
I have found instructions on how to do this, but I do not have a need for the toggle switch.
My question is, if I don't install a toggle switch, do I still need the diode, or can I merely just cut one of the wires? (That's what is done on a Polaris.)
Thanks

Nevermind. Because of a lack of feedback and not wanting to mess anything up, I went ahead and wired in the switch.
