Official Notice from Suzuki RE: Tie-rod end recall
#1
Received my letter in the mail today from Suzuki Canada which reads as follows:
SAFETY RECALL NOTICE
Dear Suzuki Owner:
This notice is being sent to you in accordance with provisions of the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Suzuki Motor Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2005 LT-A700X King Quad all terrain vehicles. According to our records, you own one of the all terrain vehicles affected by this recall.
During the factory assembly process or if tie rod settings are changed in the field, use of an improper tie rod adjustment procedure may have caused the tie rod end housing to become damaged. As a result of the damage, a portion of the rubber boot surrounding the area where the attachment shaft comes out of the housing could lose its tight seal, allowing water or debris to enter the housing when the vehicle is ridden. This could result in accelerated wear of the housing, and could eventually lead to separation of the housing from the attachment shaft. Separation of the tie rod end housing from the attachment shaft could cause the rider to lose control of the vehicle and an accident resulting in injury or death could occur.
To prevent tie rod end housing from separating from the attachment shaft, your Suzuki dealer will replace the current tie rod ends with improved tie rod ends, plus associated parts as an assembly on your all terrain vehicle. This service will be performed at no cost to you for parts and labour.
Please contact your Suzuki dealer to schedule an appointment for this Important Safety Recall. Recall instructions have already been sent to your dealer and the recall can be completed in less than an hour if you have an appointment. Additional time may be required to schedule and process your vehicle.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience this Safety Recall may cause, but we are certain you understand our interest in your safety and your continued satisfaction with Suzuki products.
Sincerely,
SUZUKI CANADA INC.
