Z hates to start
hey I went pit ridng all day the other day..and when i got back my Z wouldn't start after it cooled off..I treid starting it for about 1 hour..and my battery died..and I drianed my carb thinking water was in the carb and boosted it with my dads truck and it berely started like that and then finally i got it to run for awhile and then it recharged itself after riding for 3 hours straight..but then after it cools off it won't start again wihtout ebign boosted, so I put a new spark plug in it and changed the oil..and the only way i can start it is if I boost it from a vehicle..like even with it not being boosted it turns over fine but won't start..and ideas why it won't start on its own?

maybe the battery isn't powerful enough to put out a good spark..maybe I need ot let it charge for a long time..or a new battery possibly..I could see it not having enough amps to create a good spark through the coil. Does abattery have tyo have a certain about of amps to power the coil enough to start it?

The only variable in it's starting vs not starting, is the addition of a second battery from which to jump. This adds additional volts AND amps, assuming that the original battery is weak. It is quite possible that you have enough power to crank the engine, but not enough to fire the plug at the same time. When your Z is warm, the electrolite in the battery is excited, and will have a higher output. A voltmeter would allow you to measure to voltage of the battery. A general rule of thumb, is that WHEN CRANKING the battery voltage should not drop below 8~9 volts. From what you have said, it sounds as though you need a new battery.
I hope this helps.
