i have a 1987 lt250r quadracer whats the best oil for the tranny?

 

i use 80w-90 gear lube as the manual says

 

Plenty of 2-stroke gear oils out there, I like Bel-Ray Gearsaver personally, but any of the high end stuff will work well in there.

 

I like the belray gear saver too, I believe it's a 75 weight.

 

Ive owned my latest quadracer since 92 always used 10w40 automotive oil as the factory service manual says never had any probs. in any of them.

 

hanger, i have run the auto oil too in a pinch. The problem is anything sold at your local Wally World usually has friction modifiers in it for the cars. Those modifiers will make your clutch slip and wear out prematurely. My LT also shifts a bit better with the heavier weight gearsaver than 10W40. If you really want to see a big difference, try the two back to back in a Banshee though-huge advantage to the gearsaver by the ole buttometer.

 

I ran auto oils when I first rebuilt my quadracer, but I noticed the clutch would slip depending on which type I used. Now I run gear oil 80w.
