aftermarket parts for lt-80

If your only looking for a higher top speed the only way to go is a higher bore and a bigger carb. Mine was bored .020 over with the wiseco pro lite piston kit for $70 bucks. A bigger carb can garrantee you a higher top speed by feeding the engine more gas, $140 to $160 bucks. With that a good air filter is a must for about $20 bucks. You really don't need the pipe if racing is'nt in the youngsters future plans.
Clean the carbon out of the exhaust port on the cylinder with a wire cone shaped brush that can be attached to a power drill. It cleans the carbon right out and leaves a smooth finish.
Make sure the exhaust gasket is doing it's job, a leaky exhaust pipe is the biggest reason for lack of power.

I too have a couple of lt-80's. I noticed that the top end on these machines went to hell when I added a set of smaller "low profile" rear tires. Handling incresed, but top speed went away. I recently rode an lt-80 with a DG pipe, and the thing sounded very cool. It also ran a little quicker than my stock lt's.

fish_bulb,
I recommend staying with a 19" front tire.......this will limit you to Dunlop I believe. I tried to find a 19" aftermarket tire and could not find one, so I tried a 20" fast trekker front. The tire was too big, and made the front of the quad look & feel funny. Plus the tire had very square edges as opposed to the rounded profile of the stock dunlops. The 20" tire rubbed at full steer also............ the 20" fast trekker fronts make for a pretty good back tire though
I will be changing the pictures on my website tonight, and I will add a few pics of the LT with & without the 20" tires so you can see what NOT to do
just my honest opinion

2punksdad,
Hey, I'm just getting into racing the Lt80 (i have 2 sons 6 and 10. I have been trying to get alot of information/advice on what to do to their bikes to make them competitive. Your point about low-proflie tires is why I'm replying. I did the same thing and when I did I was told that I must change the gearing in orde for me to keep the speed. Basically I think that means changing the sprockets. I was told to use a 12 tooth sprocket on the front. I'm not sure if the back will need to be changed also. I'll keep you posted as I'm learning more each day, we have a couple more race weekends left so I'm trying to learn everything I can.

timintenn,
I guess you are tennessee eh? here in virginia, the local track(located in west virginia) would not let my 4 & 5 year olds race. they said that they must be 12 years old to race due to federal atv laws and violating their insurance policy. I kinda thought that they were full of crap...........I wish you luck @ the races!
ps...........get them a DG pipe........that thing is cool!
