Block Heater for 05 King Quad
#1
HI...It seems to me I'm killing the KQ starting it in the cold weather (its been -24 c already here...Manitoba, Canada) so I bought an electric lower rad hose engine heater...I can't put it in the lower rad hose becasue the instructions make it clear the hose MUST tilt up towards the block at 15 degrees or more (for water flow by convection I presume).....on the KQ the hose slopes DOWN from the rad to the block.......anyway......there is another hose, a by-pass or similar (not sure) that runs from the water pump almost vertically up towards the cylinder, its about 8 inches long.....can I put the heater in that hose....Thanks for the help....Tim

I wish it was that easy...however the rad inlet is well above the water outlet on the engine case and there is no way to monkey around with the molded hose....the dealer told me they (dealership) puts the heater in the shorter and smaller hose that runs from the water pump upwards to the front of the cylinder...I looked at the flow chart for the cooling system and they call it a by-pass....however its smaller that the rad hose so the 1" outside diameter heater won't fit.......aaaaaaaaaaagh!....
I really don't want to pay the $300 ish the dealer wants for the real Suzuki engine warming plate...apparently it fits under the engine and heats up the whole block...sounds nice but $300 is insane....
Thanks again
