Hey gius, i have an 04 Eiger with about 1000 miles on it. What kind of oil do you guys recommend? Would regular synthetic car oil do the job or should i go with some special Quad oil?

 

If you do a search, there are a hundred (controversial) posts on this topic. I sure hope that this isn't your FIRST oil change at 1000 miles (?????).

You want a motorcycle specific oil that is API SG/JASO MA.

No car oils, especially the ones that are "energy conserving". The synthetics have huge advantages over the petroleum oils, and the ester synthetics have advantages over the other synthetics. I highly recommend Maxima Extra!

Oh no, this isnt our first oil change. Ive been using hondas oil since thats all they carry around here

If you use a Honda oil, DO NOT use HP4M with moly! It is JASO MB and only intended for use in the 450R, where the engine and trans oils are seperated (the way all machines should be.......God bless Honda!).
