Suzuki Eiger 400 vs Honda FourTrax Rancher AT
Hey all,
I am looking into trading my wife's Polaris TrailBoss 330 in for a better ATV.. The Polaris is the biggest POS I've ever had to experience, and we are also looking for an ATV that can handle a Plow for the winter.
The 2 I am looking at are the Suzuki Eiger 400, or the Honda FourTrax Rancher AT. I am not limited to either of thease units, If there is a better one for about the same price, I am all ears.
I don't want anything less than a 400cc Class.
I know Suzuki has a Special Edition Eiger that comes with a wench, which is a + however that will not be my only decision maker.
I know the Honda has a Hydrolic Transmission which can be fully automatic, or manual shift, which is awesome, and is a +.
I have both a Honda 400ex, and a Suzuki Z400. Both are great ATV's, and I would trust a product by either company. But i know the utility class and the sport class are 2 different worlds.
Any Help you guys can offer me is greatly apperciated.
Thanks,
-ThaChad

zuki is better. the honda has almost no power.
i have had tug-o-wars with them and i tow them like a toy truck. and i am riding a kindquad 300.
the zuki auto is a sweet quad. alot of power from the motor.
not polaris sportsman400 or bombardier outlander 400, but it has alot of power.
if it was up to me, i would be choosing between the outlander 400 and the sportsman450.
the yamaha is not worth looking at.
the articat 400 has the suzuki eiger motor on a chassie with IRS with alot more ground clearence and smoother ride.

What about it's non-snow abilities? True we do want to install a plow, and we will plow our driveway a few times a year, But other than that, the machine would be mostly used out on the trails, or at the riding parks (Including Attica, IN, which is mostly sand dunes)
The Polaris 330 handled trails and sand dunes just fine, So i would assume the Eiger 400, or even the Honda Rancher AT would do the same!?
This machine will truly be an all purpos machine. We do alot of riding just around the yard, threw the cut down corn fields, etc. In the winter, we will clear our driveway a few times, we do ride around the cut down corn fields covered in snow, and in the summer we often take them to the sand dunes and off-road trails.

I use mine, like you plan to use yours...it will do anything great and with no protest, it will even jump good, we have a tree farm and it will pull anything, then after we work it, we have fun woods riding (i'm very hard on it) and muddin, great for trails, will do 60 mph and handle well

The Chad,
I have an Eiger Automatic. Very very nice machine. I have the Warn winch and 56" plow. Works great with no issues. I can clear my driveway in no time. As for just playin around, also excellent. Lots of power, I like the auto personally, Easier when plowing, easier backing up. I suspect if you were a serious rider you might want a manual. But for general use the auto is the best IMHO.
As for comparing the Honda to Eiger. Well I suspect the Honda is a good product, however the price is not worth it. Honda's, when I bought mine, were nearly $1100 more. I got the winch and plow as package. Honda did not even offer a plow.
I Vote Eiger....
