Default Reasons to NOT buy a KQ?

Mjpmn! I found the clutch kit to be pretty basic to install after all the info the guys on these forums gave me and the use of the instructions and the King Quad reepair manual! A lot of king quad info is on the NYROC forum! Goto: http://atv.dnsalias.com/
That is a great source of info over there! Do you have a copy of the service manual? You can download it for free of the internet! If you don't have it let me know.
I got the Twin Air kit direct from Twin Air! Goto: http://www.twinairusa.com/index.html
There phone # is 1-800-749-2890
The item # is 153915c! The price is $79.95 and you will need to buy ther oil and cleaner! But the kit is more than a filter! You get the filter, cage (helps seal the filter to the bottom of the air box and holds the filter to its shape so it don't colapse in on itself) and the lid to seal the top of the air box!
Are you going to just change the belt or do a clutch kit also? You can private message me if you have more questions! Thanks!

As it will on any belt-driven ATV. Pretty misleading post, scooch. How deep are we talking, Rubidude? Whereabouts are you in Illinois, anyway? I too used to have a Rubicon before the King and have not regretted the change one bit, this coming from a previously-diehard Red Rider. If you live fairly close and have the time, we may be able to arrange for you to come by and look at the King and depending where we are, take a test run.

From what I've heard and read, the belt drive is the only part of the KQ that concerns me. I'm completely sold on the Rubicon tranny. It's the best on any quad out there. Too bad Honda won't get off their duffs, and do something more with it. Instead they wasted their money developing the Rincon.

RedGoblin...I'm in Central IL just west of Jacksonville. You're probably a little too far south to do me much good. I have test ridden a KQ at the dealership, but you can only tell so much by riding on pavement. Plenty of power, but apparently there's more available with a new ECM, and clutch kit. Does the new ECM eliminate the HP restriction when in DiffLock mode? What exactly does the new ECM change?

Rubi I'll tell you this, the belt system on the King is no better, no worse than any other CVT in that it will last a very long time and require no adjustment to stay running perfectly, but they are harder to modify with upgrades such as clutch kits. The Kawasaki and Polaris CVTs are easier to modify, but (and this seems to be a point of debate with the Kawi guys) they require, to some degree, adjustment or the belt will eventually loosen and wear out prematurely. The Suzuki and Yamaha belts require no adjustment and you just simply replace the belt after so many thousand miles. How many miles on the KingQuad is a topic of debate, but the general concensus seems to be at least probably 1,500, usually more. The guys that claim only a few hundred either don't know or were probably very abusive to their machines because that is ridiculous. I too loved the Hondamatic in my Rubicon and am wondering why the other manufacturers can't figure out how to make something like it because it is the best tranny in a 4x4, hands down. However, that said, I am having no problem so far coping with the less sophisticated belt-drive because of the added features and this thing has ***** compared to any Honda utility. The Yoshi EMS will eliminate the timing "lag" built into the ignition from the factory that was put there from 0-9mph to prevent unwanted wheelies by amateur riders. Some also say the timing will even be further enhanced beyond this, similar to the Dyna CDIs for the Kawasakis. Also, it will do the same thing the DynoJet PowerCommander does in that it has "fuel maps" that control how the EFI distributes fuel. You are basically getting the gains of the Dobeck TFIs or PowerCommanders and then a lot more with the timing enhancements. It won't be cheap, but well worth it. I have a birthday on February 3, so it will work out perfectly for meHope I've helped you somehow because I made the exact change you are considering and don't regret it a single bit. Let me know if you have any other questions or feel free to PM me.

Default Reasons to NOT buy a KQ?

Hello

I'm also a (previously-diehard Red Rider) Rubicon owner, and loved it. The fact is they are
behind times. Only had my king quad for about 1 month, and I coundn't ask for anything
more! Only one major complaint, the rear a arms get packed w/ mud to easy. Any suggestions please post.
