Reasons to NOT buy a KQ?
#1
Thinking hard about switching brands, and was wondering if any new issues have come up with the KQ. I know about the reverse gear issue, but are there any other problems? Anyone have any regrets about buying one?

The issues everyone used to talk about are old news and have long since been fixed. The only reason one would have to not buy a King would be the lag and come January, you can mark that off the list as well because Yoshimura's ECS will be out to remove it. Best bang you can get for your buck as far as big-bore sport-utilities with the Bombardier being significantly higher.

Yeah, honestly forgot about the filter. Though it's not much, I have about 200 some miles on mine and still the original filter without a glimmer of a problem, though I'll probably slap a UNI in there when I get the Yoshi EMS. bigsam, there's a lag, trust me. I thought the same thing when I first got mine. Get on pavement or a surface with good traction and from a dead stop just nail it and watch the speedo. You'll take off fast enough, but at 9mph on the speedometer, the machine will jump and really get going. Suzuki did an awesome job with this motor and it's a shame they've had to tame it up a little bit for liability reasons. With the Yoshimura EMS, the enhanced timing and fuel delivery will bring out the true potential this engine has. It's a phenomenal powerplant considering it's a one-lunger with a broad, yet strong powerband and virtually no excessive vibration.

I have 1500 rough miles on my KQ and I haven't had any problems... I luv this machine and would buy another one in heart beat. It really is a cross between a utility and sport quad. If you do buy one, you'll always hate getting off of it at the end of the trail ride.... I just had it out on a winter trail ride of 82 miles in 20 degree weather and it ran perfectly. This machine is so much fun..
Good luck...

Well, I've got nothing but good to say about the Rubicon. It's been an awesome machine for me. If Honda actually had something worth looking at, I might consider staying with Honda...but...they don't. The Rincon? Even my Honda dealer told me what a joke it is. They only sell Honda too.
Anyway...the KQ has everything I need...and more. Plus, it's about the same price as a new Rubicon. I'm just curious as to what other issues had come up since the reverse gear issue. Has it been resolved completely? Also how does the KQ do in water? Anyone have belt issues?

Hello! if you get a king the only real thing you need to do is replace the stock air filter! I went with the twin air system! The stock filter is junk! The best upgrade to do to the king is a clutch kit! I chost the EPI kit! best thing I have done to my king! i agree Honda realy needs to catch up with the other big bikes! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info DavAsh. What brand is the twin air filter you bought for your KQ and what is the part # ? Where did you buy it? I took a look at your photos on the clutch kit upgrade. Nice.... How hard is to change the drive belt on the KQ yourself? I'm trying to save some money because the belt alone is so expensive.
Thank you...
