Hello, I am new to this forum but am glad I found it. I am looking for power upgrades for my suzuki lt-f500f. I just put in the k&n filter and will put in the jet kit soon. I have a supertrapp ordered. I was wondering if anybody has tried an aftermarket cam shaft like the one web-cams sells? Any other power uprade ideas would be great also. It has to stay reliable, I am not racing it or anything just want to make it a little more peppy so I dont get the itch to go buy a new fancy one and have to start making payments again.

 

Also, I was wondering if anybody has tried any air box mods for this quad? When I put the k&n in I started it with the air box lid off. It ran extremely lean leading me to believe that with some bigger jets and a better breathing air box I can make a lot more power. Any ideas?

Not sure about the supertrapp, but HMF sells good exhuast and claim about a 5hp increase i believ they told me with there exhaust,jets, and filter. 5hp is really good. not sure where the gain and how linear it might/might not be but im still gonna order it. ive seen a couple people with the set up and they say they love it.

 

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at those pipes and they look good. I have used a lot of supertrapps in the past on dirtbikes and offroad vehicles and like the way you can tune them for a good compromise between power and noise. I have a Quad Works power kit for it that includes a k&n filter, pre-filter and jets. I intalled the filters and noticed a big increase in power but I have not yet put the jets in. The increase with the filter probably had more to due with the fact that I have never changes my air filter and it was very very dirty.

 

Someone also mentioned recently, while i was inquiring about mods, to make sure the jet kit comes with new "springs" , these apparently help the vinnie to rev faster which gives a boost in performance i guess. do a search and youll find the topic and responses.

 

I think that my kit came with those. Thanks for the info. Has anybody out there used one of the web-cams in these machines? I called them today and I can get one for $128. They say it increases power throughtout the whole rpm range.
