Yea your right, but its caked up with carbon.. I just noticed it when i went back to the garage and put the light on it...? I'm getting a replacement valve cover and rockers *hopefully* and I'm going to drill the holes on the cam with the next size drill bit... just for safety..

What forces the oil to go through the cam? o0</end quote></div>

I dont know for sure, but I'll take a good guess: The oil gets pumped up the cylinder into the head and probably comes up thru the cam bearings.... Under pressure (hopefully). Since its under pressure, it easy enters the cam thru the hole in the cam bearing. Once in the cam it builds pressure until it starts squirting out the cam lobes,,, and get all over the rockers.

Here what happened to you: Too much RTV and it squeezed out and hit the cam bearing and got pushed inside the cam. Not only did it heat up the cam bearing because RTV is NOT oil, but it probably balled up and went thru the rest of the oil system until it fell down in the bottom of the crankcase (if it made it that far).

I don't know about the hole you drilled in the side. That might do more harm than good by losing oil pressure to the cam.

(By golly,,,, at this rate we're going to hit 100 pages by next yr! )
