I saw that yesterday. I thought about sending the seller a message saying I think that its a stock 26mm carb. But screw it. None of my business. It sure looks like a stock carb to me though.

Well, I think we've found the next weakest link... Sooner that I thought. Why on earth would it seize? Hey, if I had to tear mine down and muster the determination to fix it instead of launching it off the mountain then so do you. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] If it does it again though.......

The cap where I pour my oil in says 10w-40. So, I usually use whatever kind of 10w-40. Now that I'm putting a big bore kit in and a new clutch, I will probably consult the manual and make sure I'm using the right stuff (ie an API rating of SE or SF - straight from the factory service manual).

This is true PoolGod I have never tore into the engine, about as close to anything in that regards is pulling the stator cover and JB Welding the hell out of it like 4 times now trying to stop the oil leaking from C.C.O.S. previous to my ownership.
Thanks all for the encouragement and support. I do have a complete gasket set that I ordered about a month ago to have "just incase". What I am really dreading is having to tear this motor apart in my cold a$$ garage, most days it's around max 25 degrees. I think I'm going to take the motor out and take it down to my basement and setup shop down there so I can be comfortable while doing the tear down/rebuild.

My cousin was in the navy and he said they used to wear "poopie suits" out in the cold. That's what they call those one piece fullbody suits that zip up in the front (because when you walk around in them it looks like you're carrying a load back there, lol). I got one of those and with a wool sweater on under it and a turtleneck,,, anything over 25 degrees to me is hot. Not much use to me in GA, but when I was in Toledo I wore those things all the time. I loaded up on XXXL wool sweaters from salvation army, since they shrink so easy.

It's not so much my core getting to cold, more like my extremities. I'm originally from Maine so I know cold but the blood has thinned out over the years and I've turned into a giant puss[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img] My biggest problem is my hands when I was a kid I got frost bite playing out in the snow and now it can be 90 degrees outside and my hands are still cold (just ask my wife). So makes it hard to work on engine components when I have no feeling in my hands.
So I figure I'll get the motor out of the atv as fast as possible and setup a table down in the basement and work out of there.
I have been using Suzuki 4 stroke oil that I buy from the local dealership, but I haven't had the atv long enough to say wether the oil is good long term or not.
