I can't remember, is that the 258cc, 265cc, or a .060 over you're running?

What rear tires and sprockets??? 13/39 with 20's???

Since you're pulling up the front end all the time, maybe you can find a 38 for the back. I have a 14/41 and that's a hair too tall for the mountain trails and 13/39 was a hair too low. If I remember correctly, I really wanted a 13/38 (or maybe it was a 37). But its $20 for the steel 14 and $75 for an aluminum 38 or 37. Out there in Cali 38's should be growing on trees. 260cc, 13-39, on 20's.... Been on a search for a STEEL 38 with no luck, to be honest haven't tried THAT hard.... I have a 14 front, but when I held it up there it looked like there was zero room for the all important case saver..............

My 14 tooth:

That's just a hunk of flat steel I made to look like a case saver. It held pretty good the last time I rode with the chain popping off every 2 min.
I tried pretty hard a while back to find a 38 or 37. I guess I could have one custom made, but the prices shoot up exponentially.

As to the 38 tooth sprocket i think the z400 uses same bolt pattern and they make a 38 for that. Im tryin to find a 38 also. Just havent made it up to the shop yet. The 14 tooth looks kinda close if the chain ever flew but ? prob perfect gearing. 12 tooth on mine last bout two weeks ??? Any of u guys think i would be retarded to try and put 400 ex front shocks on with slightly modded a arms?

That sounds like fun... the camping fishing part , not the tm28 part . Making me want my pond sooner. I'm waiting for them to exchange a part that was wrong and I'll be digging like a kid in a sandbox.

IS there any way you can find out if the 400 sprocket fits the 230? That would be cool. I'm surprised none of the suppliers have picked up on that.

I had the 14 tooth on the last time I was riding when I was bitching that my chain was flying off every 2 min. It was really no big deal though. I just had to find neutral and put the chain back on the back sprocket and roll the quad backwards. Then I was good for another 2 min when it popped off again. The key is to have a case saver the fits really tight against the sprocket so it doesn't suck the chain around it. I couldn't use a 12T with the same case saver as the 14T. If the chain ever popped off it would be a wadded up mess.

The 14 would be ok if I had a little more torque, but its just too tall of a gear,, even with a 41 on the back and 20 inch tires. In OH it might be good with all the flat ground up there. In the mountains here, 13/39 is too low and 14/41 is too high. 4th gear is the main problem. Too big of a gap between 3rd n 4th.

The 400 shocks sound ok to me, if you can get them on there and get the geometry right. That's the biggest problem I had,,, the geometry. Once you change the a-arms, things don't work the way they used to. The shocks are either too stiff or too soft. That's why I have 4 or 5 bolts holes in the top mount and a couple holes in the bottom mount.... trying to figure out the geometry.
