Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

Just emailed this guy:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/rvs/1026959388.html

maybe I can get a super cheap parts quad or fix it up and give it to my girlfriend depending on its condition.

I'll post pics when he sends them to me.

Lack of rear plastic and ripped up seat has me thinking 250S, nose piece missing makes me think 230.

I would be tickled to death if it was a 250S but that fact that he said its a 230 and doesn't seem to know too much, makes me think it must be a 230. To someone who didn't know, it would probably be just a "250."

Did that make sense?? haha

I guess it would be pretty easy to read the side of the engine... 146cc would be the 250 and 229cc would be the 230. Then again, the 250ex says 229cc as well.

I don't think its an E. Can't see the back axle, so I can't tell the year, but white springs makes me think 87-88. $100-$200. Looks like crap and doesn't run. Who knows what could be wrong with it. Could have a bad rod or anything. Then again, could just be a plugged up carb. I bet those rear tires really bite!

Yeah, the tires do look nice. Definitely a few parts I could use if I couldn't get it running. I could tackle my a-arm project.

Is that chain guard from the 87-88s?

What'd he do to the shifter?? haha Looks like he tried to bypass all the linkage.

It definitely looks 87-88.

Yep, he bypassed the linkage on the shifter. That's the way mine is. Its harder to shift and much harder to find neutral, but change gears faster.

Well he seems like he's going to be really reasonable, I'm calling him tonight so I'll keep you posted!

Anything new and improved on the 87-88 that I'd want on my 86?

There are a couple things different, but mostly internal engine stuff like the size of oil holes n that. I'll look in the service manual later. If I remember right, the 87 or 88 is 30lbs heavier for some reason.
