Makes sense, I wonder what that bottom tube is for? I have emailed the mfg of the oil cooler to see if they can help.
I am hoping the bolt in the center of the oil filter is the place for high pressure as you suggested, and the bolt at the bottom of the clutch cover (outside) at the bottom of that tube will be the return!
In reading the clymer book about the oil pump, they say the only way to check the pressure, is to take the fully assembled bike in to a dealer because the have "special" tools to check oil pressure.
I am hoping those 2 spots are they're "super secret" access points!!

Thanks

I can't wait to hear a ride report PG! Might inspire me for this coming winter. I wish I could help with the pil taps, but I have yet to take my engine apart to know what goes where.

I am getting ready to order some parts though. Nerf bars, Peg extenders, air filter to eliminate stock airbox, and maybe some handgards.

Any of you boys running handgards? If so what kind? Mair does not make any white ones so I am leaning toward some moose brand, but am unsure if they will be to long or not.

dosnt the oil go thru clutch cover and go to top end at the top of clutch cover by rear right head stud? im tryin to help when i rebuilt my motor there was a pin hole sized area for oil to go thru due to some sand flash . im curious how u could put this on too??? i think that oil starts out thru clutch cover goes to crank at end on clutch cover then goes up to top of cover and in crankcase to top end i have a motor sitting here and looking at it couldnt u just undo lower bolt on cover that is used to check oil and return into top of cover and block off the top passage my .02 i was going to put a cooler on and this is what i figured out but since unsure i never put one in let me know also how this turns out

I think you nailed it!!! I am scared to "block" any thing though. I was thinking more along the lines of an inline check valve in the low pressure side of the tube from the cooler just b4 it enters where the oil feeds the head up top.. I am almost positive, as BigMc noted, that the screw in the center of the oil filter cover, is my high pressure. therefore the place to tap into?? with the check vavle oil can only go one way, but with nothing internally blocked, if pressure
drops for what ever reason, it would operate close to normally?? God forbid!

GUYS! check out QS270G's pix. He added notes to myutch cover pic. Let me know what you think. I'll tell you what though, I am not trying this until I have a lot of professional conformation! No offence, I have a lot of spare parts, but I don't want to burn them up to fast!

only reason i say block is because ur using a cooler so u want ur oil to flow through the cooler . im contemplating doing this as well but my motor can be touched after a good beating even with 265 kit it ran much hotter before i redid motor and id want a pros opinion too but im pretty sure ur gonna have to block something or it will defeat the purpose of ur cooler and i say to try a old cover and do ur mods there if it dont work ,witch i think it will u can just scrap cover when i first fired mine i pulled exhaust vale adjustment cover and sprayed oil past the front of bike !!!!!!i still think ur best bet is to use passage that feeds top end and return before it goes to top end but im not experenced at quad oil coolers and only did one on a car and it was a lot easier

Ugly88 I would advise against an airfilter that eliminates the air box. Yes the quad runs better and has better throttle response but it isnt that much of a difference between a uni or k&n. It also sucked when i would go thru water or ride in snow because the tires would fling water right to it and these machines dont burn water very well. lol

84 link 520 series O-ring chain for the "stock" length swing arms. If the machine is stock, you can use a HIGH quality non sealed chain.

A-men
Unless you run in VERY dry conditions, and open filter is asking for trouble.
