Couple questions for you guys. 1)Will this caliper will on my 87 LT230S? http:///cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290417201440&viewitem= &sspagename=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Is there a way to tighten the slop in the shifter bushing? 2) Either the pin on the foot bracket is worn or the shifter bushing is wore. I read the info on beefing up the linkage. Thank you!

Here's the schematic of an 87's rear caliper. Tough call. I had an 86 and that's not the one I had on mine. 87-88s were different though. Maybe someone with a newer on can confirm.



The shifter linkage is a hard problem to correct, but lt230sman submitted the best idea thus far. Here's the page in the Vault.

is there trick to getting the rear caliper piston to retract all the way back into the bore? I cant seem to get the c clamp to give near enough clearance for the new brake pads

Did you take the cover off the master cylinder? There's a master cylinder on the handlebars for the front brake, and a master cylinder for the rear brake under the seat on the passenger side.

Try that, then use the C-clamp.

Does anyone here run a gripper seat cover? If so, do you like them? I have the option on eBay to go non-grip, or grip and I can't decide. I don't find myself slipping around on the seat much so I would think a gripper seat cover would only serve to give me a worse wedgie than I usually get anyways.

my seat cover from ebay is a non gripper. i dont have any trouble of sliding off. even during a jump i dont have any trouble.

That's kinda what I thought.

Here's the one I just ordered, its going to be the black and gray one in the third pic. Should look nice with the gun metal frame on the DVX.

Yes, I did remove the cover to allow the fluid to be forced up,I assume it wont move because of the emergency brake. Can anyone explain to me how the emergency brake works on these little things? As far as I can tell the adjustable screw forces the piston forward

Default Joining the fun

First post here. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks trying to suck up as much info on the 230s as I can. I was given 2 1986 quadsports, 1 was a rolling chassis with every pivot and bushing pretty much shot. The other was cut in half by someone, but most of the pivots were good.

I started working on them last fall around September and found a motor for sale in Syracuse, NY. Bought that and finally got 1 complete 4 wheeler out of 3. There are very few parts left over that are any good.

Although I have had it running, I have yet to take pics of it complete because I am figuring out what to do about plastic. The fenders I have now are cracked, broke, faded and just barly hanging on.
