Subject: Re: KING QUAD ECM UPDATE

So, what exactly makes this product different from the current products that are already on the market and have been for quite some time, the Dobeck TFI and Dynojet PowerCommander? Also, If you are 100% certain that it will be a fuel-only product and have absolutely no effect on ignition timing, this will be a HUGE disappointment to the people waiting on this product to arrive because we were all under the impression it would be both timing AND fuel and would also eliminate the lag. I just hope there was some sort of mix-up in communication or something because to be honest with you, I think it's safe to say 90% or more of the potential market for this may disappear if it doesn't do anything more than what's already available. I'm just trying to bridge the gap in communication because there is a lot of blind speculation going on amongst those waiting for Yoshimura about what exactly we are waiting on. Thank you for your time and energy, regardless of the outcome.

Response from Malorie Received Today(1-9-06):

Hello,
I spoke with R & D once again about the demand for timing adjustments also, however, they wouldn't budge. The ECM will be released as a fuel adjuster only. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Wow that's a disappointment...It won't get rid of the lag then only adjusting fuel should be just like the Dobeck TFI and Power Commander that had a very mixed bag of performance gains. Why don't they build what we ALL want I just can't understand that...don't they read these forums? I agree with what you said in your email that 90% of the market for this will not buy it....I know I won't.
I have a hard time putting my hope in a company like VDI, they seem to have taken so long to get their V-twin module out and I'd expect it to take them even longer to get an EFI ECM for the KQ since it's more complicated. But it seems that's the only option left...everyone start emailing them to adjust timing.

I've already spoken to Lyle at VDI, as have many others, and he assured me that development would begin soon, but we couldn't expect a final product until later in the year. Yes, it may be awhile, but like you said it's probably our only hope right now and you gotta know VDI will get it right the first time. What I really like about working with them so far as well is there's none of this smoke and mirrors, going through representatives bullsh** that we had to deal with when talking to Yoshimura. He hasn't beaten around the bush with the questions I've posed thus far; he's plainly said that yes, eventually they will have a fix but they just can't say how long. I heard a rumor that DynoJet was going to consider working on something, but I would consider that more of a longshot than VDI at this point. Maybe someone should give them a holler and make it VERY CLEAR that we are looking for an ignition timing fix, not f'ing fuel-enhancement anymore!
