Sorry, I assumed most knew. In California to ride an off road vehicle you need either a Green or Red Sticker registration on your bike. With the Green Sticker you can ride year round. With a red sticker you are restricted to certain times of the year.
What I do not know is if my bike has a registration from my home state of Arizona do I need to purchase a temporary sticker from California or is my AZ registration good enough.

yes all quads and bikes need the permit if your going to ride in california.
if you get stopped and they check you can get a ticket for not having one
I guess it all depends on who you are. and I was told that if your quad or bike is registered
in your own state you dont need one. I have a lic plate on my quad. Do I have one? NO! will I get one NO!

Here's a blurb from the state's OHV website -
Non-Resident Permit: As of January 1, 1998 you will need to purchase a special "Non-Resident OHV Permit" if you are not a California resident AND your off-highway vehicle or snowmobile is not registered in your home state. An Arizona “RV” plate is not registration and is not valid for OHV’s being used in California. For Arizona OHV information, visit the Arizona State Parks website at http://www.pr.state.az.us/partnerships/ohv/safety.html. To find out where these Non-Resident OHV Permits can be purchased and to get more information on the program, please contact a local Ranger or contact the OHMVR Division at:

ResueDiver,
Thanks, That is the exact information I needed. Do you happen to know if the Z400 is a Green Sticker qualified quad or does it get the red sticker? In addtion, if my quad has an RV plate from AZ does the Non Resident sticker allow me to ride as though I had a Green Sticker bike even if the bike is a Red Sticker bike if registered in California?
