Default IS THE '06 KINGQUAD right for me?

Recently i sold me '01 Honda Rancher ES ATV and since i have been scaming around the ATV market for another ATV.. I am VERY familiar with all the brands, and was definatly considering another Polaris, (perhaps the 800 EFI Camo) but to make a long story short, i was at McDonalds the other day and in front of me was a brand new '06 Camo Kingquad and since that day i've fell in love.. I have driven most popular fourwheelers but not the KQ.. it seems for the price and the features it cant be beat, i cant believe i didnt see it before.. is the "lag" issue ive been hearing about supposed to be fixed for '06, or should i get a better deal on an '05.. and how is it compared in power to my carb '04 SP 700.. Thanks for everything..

As far as I know the only change to 06 is wheel color and available plastic color. The 05's are identical otherwise (provided you get a late VIN for the reverse fix). Some 05's had smaller tie rods (gold color) but get replaced when you have the recall done to the late 05/06 rods (silver). If there is a good deal on a late model 05 do not hesitate.

I would say go for the king. I have the 05 and love it some people have had trouble with air filter not fitting tight but there is after market out there if you want. as for the 06 if you like the cameo go for the 06 other wise 05 works for me. clutch lag does not bother me I like the way it drives and handles.

If you buy the King Quad do not drive one mile without an aftermarket filter...Uni or Twin Air or K&N. The stock filter is junk...other than that the KQ is a great ATV. It still has the lag for the 06 model, and it's to bad because wheelies are almost impossible. If the lag wasn't there the KQ's powerband would be perfect for me...but it's really not as bad as you may think..it still goes 72-73mph and I've heard from individuals that the KQ can take a Polaris 800 in a drag and that's saying a lot. But what would you be using it for the most? I had an 04 400 Sportsman and the KQ's ride isn't as plush, but it's also a good 100lbs lighter which really helps on the trails.

well, im typical.. ill be mudding a good bit.. ALOT of trailriding, and my dad will be using it for hunting during hunting season, so the typical i guess.. my SP has held up great for me, and i may give it to my dad and keep the KQ for myself .. oh yea, it will more than likely be a Camo KQ, possibly Green.

I'd say the KQ would be great for that, and the lighter wieght is a nice change, from the heavy Polaris'.

yeah, the lighter weight will help substantially.. when i get the KQ, i plan on adding a K&N Airfilter, and '26 Mudlite XTR with 14' Rims to help the handling..

Sounds good! I've seen 14" rims on the KQ and they look awesome!

The power is going to feel better and overall snappier because it weighs significantly less. The 4WD system is probably better than the Kawasaki in that it is instant engaging/disengaging. The Kawasaki takes a little bit of forethought to activate before you hit that mudhole, or you could be in trouble. Also, you don't have to hold the locking lever like on a Kawi, it's just a switch you flip. Great 4WD. Any other questions? Also, by the way, I personally think the 14" rims are a gimic and the handling differences on an ATV really aren't that justifiable, but that's just my opinion based on what I've seen and heard. I would go with 12", especially because I think they cost less as well, but that's just my two cents.
