What year is it?
#1
I'm looking to buy a quadracer 250 from a guy around where i live. He said he doesn't know what year it is cuz he just got it from his son. He does know it's between an '86 to a '89. Can anyone point me in the direction of which year it is? What side did the exhause exit on the '86, '87, '88, and '89? Let me know, imma go check it out tonight and find out which side it exits on and imma try and get the serial number also so i'd like to find out anyway thanks guys.

the 85/86 model has a small round muffler on it.
the 87-92 model has a larger rectangle type muffler
all models have the exhaust on the left side of the bike
the F model is a 85
the G 86
the H 87
the J 88
the K 89
the L 90
the M 91
the N 92
im not sure which letter position it is on the vin
hope this helps

Let me correct a little info here.
85-86 have the five speed transmission. Also they typically have the strait style seat even though that could have been changed out. They have short ~12.5-13 long front shock absorbers. The engine does not have a powervalve and the exhaust exits the cylinder at an angle to the left. The swingarm is round where the axle goes through.
87+ have six speed transmission, T-style seat. Front shocks ~15" long. Engine has a powervalve, identifiable by a cover on the right side of the engine that has a small round window and the exhaust strait in the center of the cylinder. 87 has a cylinder with a 5 bolt intake manifold w/larger reeds and porting. (some say they have different gear ratios in the tranny but I can't confirm this) Swingarm is retangular where the axle goes through.
88-90 similar to the 87 except reed valve has been made smaller and intake now has 6 bolts.
91-92 similar to 88-90 engine and looks wise. Frame geometry was further improved and rear suspension now utilizes a tradtional linkage design instead of the ackward full floater of all previous years.
