Eiger carb help please
#1
I am kind new here and need some help. I have an '05 Eiger and love it but have a problem with the carb. I took it to the dealer to get the valves adjusted and they cleaned the carb and now it has a problem when it idles cold. When it is cold will start fine but if is give it gas it bogs out and dies, if you let it sit there for 10 minutes it is fine. As long as it is warm I have no problem, I took it back to them and they are just dumb and said that it is running lean but they adjusted the carb and problem is "fixed", but it is not, they run it till it is hot then it works fine so they think it is fixed and don't let it cool to see if it is really fixed. Can anyone suggest a fix, I don't know much about carbs but have the factory manual to tell me whats what. Thanks for your help.

Do you use the choke, or let it warm up for a minute, I generally let mine warm up for a minute or two, then I usually have to leave the choke half on for a little bit. Also running lean would make it be cold blooded. You could turn out the mixture screw, but not more then 1/4 turn at a time, you then may have to screw it back in during the summer to lean the mixture up for the warmer months.........Hope fully Eiger 2 or askafari will post also

hmmm... check several things:
vent hose coming up parallel to your snorkel (under the seat) NO KINKS
air filter is cleaned and newly oiled/seated properly
change to a 128 jet (stock 122)
carb boots are fully seated on carb and air box
idle circuit screw is backed out approx 1.5 turns (screw it in GENTLY, then back it back out 1.5 turns)
spark plug is free of all carbon and/or fouling
gas in your tank is brand spanking new
spark arrestor screen is clean
fuel filter AND fuel valve screen are clean
spark plug boot is bone dry inside
if all of those things are double checked OK and you still have a problem, removal and disassembly of the carb would be my next step.
good luck!

When I bought my Eiger I had the same problem. I decided to install a jet kit to fix this problem. Duriing this process I found a vent hose kinked. I'm willing to bet they when they put it back together they kinked this hose.

I have just over 1200 miles on it, I have taken it back twice and decided that will never get it right, I called another dealer and they want $110 to fix it plus parts if any and they are 3 weeks out. It has been a great quad I will just never take it back to that place again.

I found that when they put the gas tank back on after they adjusted the valves the sandwiched the vent line between the tank and the frame. Thanks for everyones help, it started right up after I went through the list that "aksafari" gave me and seem to have all my power back. The only thing that I have not done yet is change the jet, I bought it just havent had the time to install it.
