1985 suzuki lt 250r.starts up and runs and rides but the plastics are pretty beat up and it wont go into third gear,it will go from 2-4th but 3rd gear is just like nuetral. Over all condition isnt to bad it has been sitting outside for a while under the porch so there is a little rust on the pipe and footpegs. he wants 500 bucks

the problem is with trannys is you never know whats broke in them it might just be the shifter fork or it might be the whole gear sprocket I'd check on ebay for a engine or bring it to a shop before you buy it

I bought a real cherry last summer for 1200 bucks. Its a 92, I plan to put clutches in this year but it rides like new. Just thought you might use that info as a guide. I have looked online and they sell as high as 2500 dollars after reconditioning and upgrades. You can see mine on MyPage, but its cocered in mud. :-)

Can't go wrong for $500! Like other people said, even if you don't want to fix it you can part it out. I would jump on that deal!

That sounds lik ea great deal but the transmission could get very expensive. I paid $850 for my 89. The stock pipe has a slight crack but not much. The plastics were pretty new although one bolt hole has gotten stripped out so its bigger than the bolt head. It was starting when I got it I just need to put a washer or something on the spacer. The atv needed new front tires and could use rear ones after riding it for a while. It looks pretty beat up just as in paint has come off the a arms and stuff. It needs some work but for the price I can do a lot of work and still have it nicer than other used ones that sell for a lot more. I just had the engine rebuilt as my top end finally went out after a year of riding some of which was pretty hard. It works fairly well. I do need another front hub but that isn't too bad. The main things wrong with it are just the paint and stuff like that. For $500 sounds like a better deal but the transmission is a big thing to have go bad. Along with it being a 85 which isn't as good as the later years.
