ok i raced at otter lake and took first in the 250cc and second in the 250-500 cc and then blew motor. pulled it apart the crank bearings wasted 3/4 inch up and dwn play. question is it was brand new last year ,what would cuse this then it blew my rings. so what to do now that its apart again? the guy who rebuilt my 87 lt250 bottom heard it run month later said i had piston slap bored out and put fresh piston in same vibration same rattle. then i blew it any ideas? thanks in advance.

i bet the crank was out of balance and\or main bearings bad . i have woundered if the 250 had the same problem as the 500 and need the case inserts . if it vibrates theres not alot it could be . have you checked the flywheel or the clutch hub ?

With Hot Rods now making the LT crank I would rebuild an old one. There isn't many people who will get them perfect like they should be. I once had a local shop do me one cheap (like $30) and it vibrated. I know that was the problem.
