#1
I just bought a 03 Z-400, I here alot about the t-chain going bad. What is the best way to check the chain? We are going to Glamis in two week,s I would like to make sure it is ok before we go.

stock chains do stretch a lot if its been riden alot and hard. if its going bad you will know it because you will hear it rattle
the only way to really tell is to remove it but if you do that you might as well replace it

You can check the chain by removing the adjuster checking how far out it is.
The adjuster is on the rr side of the cyll. Remove the bolt and spring from the center. Then remove the upper and lower bolts. Pull the tensioner straight out. Count the number of clicks left before the plunger is all of the way out. If its not all the way out it should be ok.
I replaced mine when there was only 2 clicks left.
If you need more clarification let me know.
