Hello i am thinking about getting a suzuki vinson. I was just wondering what you think of them. Are they fast? Do they go through the mud good? Water? Does the radiator hold up well? Just all around how is the quad and did u have n e regualar problems? Thanx

 

The Vinson is a fine machine. The 5 speed is a little faster and both can be fast for a 500 4x4. They go fine in most stuff but lack a locker.

 

For a 500 they have planty of power, but you will still have trouble keeping up with many big bores. The ride is fairly smooth, for an sra machine.Good grunt, for the mud holes, if you are concerned about the radiator, i suggest buying an aftermarket bumper. I believe that the older models (pre 2005) models may have weaker frames. I suggest the 5 speed, as i believe it has a harder hit on the bottom end and a higher top end.

 

Ive had my 03 for going on 2 years now. Only thing i have fixed or replaced are the brakes. Had to put it in the shop to get the carb cleaned but thats because i let it set up a lot without riding at one point. Now i dont let it set so much. I put EBC SV pads on it and like them so far, and i replaced the stock tires with ITP 589's 26", which i only ran for about 60 miles before selling and getting some polaris PXT's 26", which i love. Ive had no probs with the auto tranny, the 4x4 system, the engine or any other part of the quad. I have even withheld the temptation of trading it in for, or just going out and buying ,a bigger cc qaud beacause im very satisfied with my vinnie. Although i really want the KQ, and i do need 2 quads, for me and wife to ride. It manages mud well, and water, of course if you get to deep with the auto and get water in the belt drive , then it will slip, but thats easily fixed by removing the drain plug and letting the water out, ( happened to me twice so far, just got in too deep), i keep my radiater cleaned out after any mudding and have had no probs, it does have great power for 500, best in class IMHO. Mine stock ran 62 mph according to speedo, after the pxt's im down to 60 mph. The only quad that is 500cc class that i would own other than the vinson is the Honda Rubicon, but the extra $ for it and the rougher ride, (plus some other minor diffs) would place me to buy the vinnie over it. I dont like to be brand loyal, so this post is not biased because of that, ive owned all of the big 4 brands, and like some models better than others, but for this 500cc area the Vinson cant be beat.
