Default ltz400 corrosion problem

I made a formal complaint with the Product Safety Commssion in Indiana and met with them tonight due to the "run around" that Suzuki has been giving all of us on the problem. They are wanting to help and enforce a recall on the affected models. So if you have the problem, email the officer at mboyd@cpsc.gov She is very nice and is wanting to resolve this issue for all of us owners who are getting screwed. I sent her some pics of mine. Even though there were no injuries to be reported one could definately happen if an engine were to blow while riding. I figured this approach would be more effective then going through the BBS. I for one think that suzuki should claim full responsibilty for the problem being that it is a product defect that doesn;t result becuase of abuse by the owner. So if you have any pics of the problems or just want to email the officer about your experience with a dealer or suzuki regarding the problem, please email it. This will make the investigation far more conclusive and a quicker recal will happen with no expense to us.

i forgot to add, if you already paid to get the probelm fixed, they might be able to get you reembursed. Dont know for sure, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Seriously though, if the dealer and suzuki has been givign you the run around on the problem, email this person.

well to any of you who did email the officer, I appreciate it. They got a hold of Suzuki and they are enforcing a recall. It should be posted and all original owners should be contacted through mail so you can get your quad into the dealer you bought it from and get fixed. I've already contacted my dealer and htey said that yes it is being fixed for free and with an aluminum cover instead of magnesium. Hope you all are helped by this.

As far as I know it's only the 2005/2006 models with the magnesium clutch covers.

Good job charliemurphy. I don't have an 05 or 06 but if I did I'd be really happy that they are now fixing them.
