Default oil to fuel mixture for LT 250R

I just purchased a 1990 quadracer from a guy and he says he ran 50:1 mixture and the clymer manual says the mixture should be 20:1. What do you guys run in yours and what is the best oil to use. Thanks

50:1 with a real good sythetic is fine. (Amzoil,Spectro,Yamalube, etc.) Everyone has his/her own oil preferences, I personally run Polaris Blue oil, which is a mineral/synthetic blend at a 40:1 ratio. If you were to run a good mineral oil 32:1 is a good ratio.

I use Castol 747 mixed 32:1 with U2 for my race quads/RM125 (big bores) and the same oil mixed 40:1 with 92 (premium pump) on my dirt bikes (stock bore). I found that if I went 32:1 with pump gas I'd foul plugs all the time on my YZ250 & KTM250.

Pick your poison (Favorite oil) and mix per their recomendations.

If you change oil and/or ratio from what the previous owner ran, you'll likely need to re-jet as changing O/F ratios will change the jetting... sometimes substantially.

The old requirement of 20:1 was for yesteryear when only dino oil was available... there's many good alternatives these days. Amsoil is my weapon of choice... to each his own.
