Default Fixing a gas tank leak

The gas tank on my 89 zilla is leaking. I don't have the plasitcs off yet, but it looks like something has worn a hole in the top of the tank, or it is leaking from the place where the gas goes in. If there is a hole, what will stop the leak and hold? Fiberglass? Any other suggestions, I don't really want to buy and install a whole new tank.

I don't know for sure that it would work, but I've seen an epoxy putty that comes in two parts that you kneed together into a uniform color then within minutes it starts to get warm it will be too hard to work with within about 7-10 minutes. I know it has a resistance to chemicals because where I first saw it being used was on a steel drum containg paint thinner. It's gotta be woth trying. I'm not quite sure where to get it though. I believe the package says "poxy-putty" on it which was a brand that I used to see at my local swimming pool store, hope this is helpful to you.

epoxy with chemical resistances would probly work. TIP- rough up the surface around the hole to help the epoxy bond.

I did some checking today found out that the name of the epoxy putty i told you about is called nu-doh, I didn't do an online search for it yet but I'm sure it's available to purchase online. Sorry for the misinformation in my previous post.

I'd try duct tape. In all seriousness, I'd look on ebay for a used tank. You could probably jerry-rig it for a while, but that quad has a lot of vibration anyway nevermind jumps, whoops, wheelies, etc. Probably the same tank as a 250.
