purchasing 06 Z tommorrow any suggestions
#1
Ok now i know this topic has been posted before but im not sure about one thing. Im going to be heading down to the dealer tommorrow to negotiate a deal on an 06. Im aware of the clutch cover and im hoping they will replace it with a new mag cover for me. I guess i will offer to buy the evans coolant because it doesn't sound like suzuki is authorizing that type of coolant and they are puting something else back in after the cover swap. If i do end up going the evans way.........is my warranty still going to be good or void? I hope i don't have any trouble in dealing with this issue.......im aware that some dealers have been jerks about it. Any suggestions?
And is there anything else i should be aware of before signing the deal? Can you sometimes get a little more warranty out of them instead of the measily 6 months? Thanks for your time as i know some of you are probably sick of these topics

I would bring in the article on the corrosion for the 05-06's.. I would make the dealer pay for the Evans after flushing it w/ the proper stuff also.. You don't own the quad so you have leverage if they want a sale.. If they won't do it turn around and head for the door. They will beg you to buy it as you leave.. Don't give in.. Make them replace it at the dealerships cost and let the dealership fight w/ Suzuki to get reimbursed.. I would negotiate a price before you bring up the coolant issue or they will simply add the cost of the fix to the total price and feed you some BS and raise a price on registration, tax or whatever they can get away with.. Do not buy the quad w/o Evans coolant before signing on the dotted line.. Once you sign on the dotted line you have lost all your leverage.. Be smart!!!!

Let us know what happens. I was planning on selling my 03 and getting an 06 Z but I'm going to wait until they do something about this corrosion issue. Good advice sandgod. Tacomac-you should print out the other topic about the corroding issue and show your dealer if he try's to bs you and say he's not heard anything about it.

Speaking of the corrosion...
I just bought my KFX in September ('05 leftover), only ridden it a handful of times. I took the water inlet cover off to inspect it, and there is some corrosion to the metal, but I was amazed at the scale buildup. This wasn't just gunk, I had to scrape it all out with a screwdriver.
My dealer told me if there's no recall on it, then it's my bill if I want it repaired. He told me to call the Kawi customer service number. This was before I had opened it up and inspected it. I think I may bring some pictures to them to see.

Why should he pay 180 for an 04 cover on a new machine he doesn't own... Make the dealer pay for it if they want the sale.. It is a flaw on Suzuki's part and as long as he doesn't sign on the dotted line he has all the leverage to get what he wants or go elsewhere..

Well as we all know it is not a safety issue so Suzuki as with all makes will drag there feet in this problem. All the dealer will do is SAY they changed the coolant and it is fixed to sell the quad. What I am saying is since it no big deal to fix it permenant is to just get the 04 cover and the problem will be solved. I am going to be getting a 2006 myself soon and plan on buying and installing the cover myself. I do understand what you are saying though and if it was a major expense than yes I would make them fix it, But 180 bucks isn't that big of a deal.

03/04 covers are on back order for a long long time due to this issue so the coolant is the only fix for now, but it is a permanant fix. The Cannondale crowd has already been through this same scenario and Evans NPG is the only coolant that will fix this issue because it is "waterless".. The dealer will tell anybody brand "y" will work or brand "x" should fix it. They are dead wrong and pumping the customer up w/ BS as they have no proof to back up thier uneducated BS just to make a sale and leave the poor SOL customer to fend for himself later.. On a side note my friends dad has an 03, 04, and 06 Z400's.. He wrote Suzuki a letter telling them his dealer told him he was SOL.. He said he would never buy another Suzuki product again.. Suzuki called him, not sent him a letter, and told him to bring the quad down to the dealer and Suzuki would pay for the fix. The quad has an 04 cover on it.. I don't know how he got the cover on backorder but he did, well Suzuki got the cover, and sent it to the dealer. My friends dad was not charged a dime..
