Default Z400 swingarm pivot bolt/shaft

alrighty, where do i start. tommorow i have a planned trip to the badlands offroad park in attica, IN. today while riding i went off my table, landed a bit short and landed fairly hard. my shocks are on a stiffer setting, with 450r front shocks and a Z rear shock. for some reason i looked down on my right side near the heel-guard to find the nut off the end of the swingarm pivot bolt/swingarm pivot shaft broken clean off the shaft. the nut broke off with a piece of the shaft till in the nut. i've been scrambling around today to contact all suzuki dealers on the way from here to attica, so far found 4, and been calling but all are closed on mondays, so I will try again tomoro. i imagine this is quite a rare part to have in stock, but time will tell. also going to try to find a replacement that is within a few thousandths at a local hardware store. any tips from anyone?

No quick fix for ya man, but to make sure it doesn't happen again, call Paul at Advantage Cycle for a stainless steel one.

well here's an update, tore apart the rear end down to taking off the swing arm (axle intact) and found that the swing arm pivot bearings are bad, the shaft heated up and snapped. so right now it's looking like a long fun week of work.

I'm rebuilding my Z400 right now and had to map gass the same bolt off my Z. The dealer wanted like $49 for the stock hollow bolt and said it would take 1-2 weeks.

I was able to get a solid stainless one overnighted (DHL) to me for $56 from Hellbound Racing out of PA. Call them at 570-402-9000. They have them in stock. Ask them about the bearings also. They may have some in stock as well.

Hope this helps.
