1989 Suzuki LT500R any flaws???
The only major flaws with them I remember was on the 87 cylinders. The head gasket wouldn't seal right, or something like that. They are a little long and wide, which makes them awesome duners, but they aren't so good on the trails. If you get it, hang on tight and have fun!

well I am from Nova Scotia, and from what I have seen on Ebay etc... and people around here on the forum selling them that $2000 bucks is a great deal for the condition you say it's in. There's no frame probs that you can see etc...? did you get them to start it and maybe just take a little spin around the persons yard or some thing?

If your only paying 2 grand for a zilla and it runs and has descent plastic, it's a go. In my experience, a good zilla starts at 3 grand. Just be sure and check out where you getting it. Check the fluids and air filter....what kind is it and is it clean.. what type of riding did the previous owner, do? If all these things check out..... Welcome to the family! I have a great source for you if you have any major questions, this guy is good. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

The reason was the warrenty work, it was cheaper fro Suzukie to drop the LT500 than it was to improve it, I have been chatting with Dr Q about this and he still claims that the 87 was the faster motor due to the larger intake, and in 88 they went to the smaller LT250 sized intake.
Ill tell you there is not a more fun seat of the pants 2 stroke out there, Torque of a 4 stroke and quick rev of 2 stroke and with light to minor mods can produce will over 60 HP on gas.
And with the out of this world cost of the new 4 strokers out there and cant beat the LT500, oh unless they spend countless thousands to do so!
I think over 18 years I spent may $3500.00 on my LT (Shocks, Motor Porting Head Work, Pipe, Rebuilds) thats $195.00 year
2 strokes never die , we just rebuild em!

That says it all! The guy that builds the bikes that are ridden by our group is about as hard core as it gets. As far as he is concerned, everything else is a "slug". I haven't done much racing myself but the few i have raced have eaten my dust. I was concerned about the 700 raptor, it looks like a bad boy. I took it easy. I bet the 450 class could smoke that thing, any of them. I'm sure this will get chewed up and spit back in my face so, thats my 3 cents...
