(2) I don't know about the interchangability of the fuel pumps. I would think that if it could run without a fuel pump, then the manufacturer wouln not have originally installed one. If your 250 will run fine (even though you have to pull start it), then why do you feel that you need to replace the fuel pump?

I'll be more than happy to help you the best that I can, but I need accurate info, and more info.
In your first post of your troubles, you said that "it will turn over great on the starter". In your last post, you said "the engine turns over hard". My guess is that your atv battery is quite low on a charge, and even though you are jumping it, the atv battery is absorbing much of the voltage from the car battery, and not allowing enough voltage to be provided to the starter and ignition system.
Try this. Disconnect the positive cable from the atv battery. Carefully connect the positive jumper cable to that disconnected cable. Connect the negative jumper to the negative atv cable. This bypasses the atv battery completely. Does it start now?
Also, do you have (or can you borrow) a voltmeter?
Without specific answers, all we can do is guess as to the nature of your problem.

to start with i dont know why i said it turns over hard,i eliminated the atv battery any hooked directly to the car.the engine still wont startoff the starter, yes i own a digital voltmeter.i even hooked up another tank on the rack so it will gravity feed.on the pull cord it starts and runs for about a minute.where am i going wrong?

You have 2 problems, probably unrelated to each other.
While jumping from the car battery (and cranking the atv engine), take a volt reading. Connect the negative voltmeter lead directly to the engine. Connect the positive lead to the "hot" connection of the starter. What is the reading?
