Default King Quad front CV Boot violated!

I got my new 06 King Quad 700 stuck in some rocky sand/mud. I got it out and I went from there to home(I was in my back yard)maybe 1/2 mile at most.

I was washing the muck off and found that the front right CV boot closest to the wheel was missing the metal sealing ring. It was still there but not on the boot, it was just sliding around on the shaft.

I did not feel any grit in there but I wonder if water got in there during the wash or in the deep water I had/wanted to go through on the way home I drove in the 8inches of water a while to clean the mud off.

Should I attemt to remove, clean and repack with grease or should I just take it in and pay the pros to do it?

What type of grease is in the joint?

Does anyone want to tell me how to get the thing off and clean and pack this joint?

Thanks
Charlie

clean it out real good and go to the dealer and get some CV grease...It's viscosity is between really thick gear oil and wheel bearing grease, put the boot back on and your good to go....if you need any CV parts call Dan at CV man

Thanks, That is what I was thinking I just wanted to be sure I was not missing something. The only thing I really need is new clamp rings to put the boot back on with. They are a crimp on type and I do not know how to do them or where to get them or the tool needed to assemble them.

I did reach in and pull out some of the grease with my finger and there was no sand in it that I could tell. I got the old ring back on but it is not very tight. I wonder if this is part of the original problem. I wonder if the ring was not on tight enough to begin with and this caused it to come off easily.

Any idea where to get the stuff needed to properly seal these boots.

Thanks
Charlie

If you go to a local car parts place and tell then you need some CV greese (it will come in a little pack) and a band clamp tool they will know what your talking about and it shouldn't be more than 20 bucks or so. the grease from suzuki is very expensiveand the isn't any diff. Aaron
