Default z 400 carb ???

I was wondering what is the best carb setup for my z... I was thinking a used yfz carb... Or a R carb... Would a rmz450 bike carb work any good??? Any help would be good. Thanks...

Default z 400 carb ???

I was told to go with a 39-41 FCR flat slide on the Z's that have motor work done/high comp pistons. Look for a 02-03 or 06 CRF. I've heard of people being able to use certain YZF carb's also on their Z's but had to make some modifications. A few people on this forum helped me with that.

Since I've gone to the anthena head/piston I went with the 41 mil fcr myself.

I run a 41mm FCR and its great. I know where to get a new one but its not cheap. around $500 or more for it
look around you'll find something that will work for a lot less money

Default z 400 carb ???

The cheapest route is to look on ebay for a YFZ 39mm Carb or something similar. These can be picked up for around $200-250

I picked up a 41mm Sudco Racing FCR for $250.

Another route is to go with a 40mm FCR from Service Honda.

1. Carb: 16100-MEB-771 (www.servicehonda.com) $370

2. Throttle Cable: Part # 07-0774 Motion Pro control cable FCR to stock LTZ Throttle - $34.95 Carb Parts Warehouse - (216) 635-1099

Also, be advised you need to run the fuel petcock on prime and plug the vaccum hole for an FCR.

The stock carb uses the vacuum line to open the petcock for fuel, the FCR's dont have a vacuum port for that. You have to run it on prime, otherwise you won't get fuel.

How are you running yours?
