Default z250 for me?

ive been riding utility quads for about 6 years and i want a sport quad. Nearby, someone is selling a 2004 LT-Z250 for $1800, needs new rear tires. First question, is this bike a good intro to sport quads for me, Second, withen the first month i want to upgrade the bike if i get it but cant find many parts for this bike, so is there any big bore kits, recommended exhausts, etc. for this bike. Thx, BasSTiD

First off I need to ask how much you weigh, your height, and what kind of riding you are going to do. Those 250's are great bikes, I bought one for my girlfriend, but after a while you may be seeking more power. But there are a few motor mods and pipes out for it.

maybe i'm just too used to my raptor, when I get on her 250 is seems like i am going in slow motion. but that 250 is one of the most of the reliable machines out there. she cant get enough of it.

guess i forgot to say that, im 130 lbs,16 y/o, 5'6, 70% trail, 30% dirt roads. i dont really need a speed machine, i would like accelloration though. im actually going today to test it. i figure if i do get it, it will be for about 3 months to get me used to shifting, then ill get a manual clutch kit, and get used to that. then ill upgrade.

Sounds like the rite machine for you, if you want more acceleration I would go for the manual conversion, pipe, jet, and filter for starters...

The Z should work well for you. It won't take but an hour to learn how to shift, maybe a few days of riding to learn the clutch after it is converted to manual.

well b4 i went to get it, it was sold, but on the way back i found a 2001 400ex mint for 2300, so even though its above my level, i cant pass up that deal, ill report back in 2 or so days with results on that.

As good as a Z250 is, the 400EX will keep you satisfied powerwise much longer. Plenty of ponies on tap for general trailriding. At 130 lbs that thing won't even be breaking a sweat. Good luck, I hope you get it if it is truely mint
