Default Z250 or Z400?

I am getting a new atv sometime soon and was wonder what you guys think...should I get a Z250 or Z400? I currently have a Quadrunner 160 and I have been trail riding for 4 years. I am very experianced on smaller quads like the 160, but hardly have any experience on a pure sport machine. I am 15, 5'6", 120 pounds, so I am a smaller rider. The Z250 would be good for most of the riding I do now, but I plan on racing in the GNCC's within the next couple of years. Should I get the Z250 now and race that in the GNCC's and wait a couple of years and then get the Z400. Or should I get the Z400 which is bigger than what I really need for now?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Get the Z400, you won't regret it once you get older and bigger. You will outgrow the 250 and be wishing you had something bigger with more power, etc.

id just stay with the z250. neither bike will make it through gncc's after a couple of years of riding anyway. youd have to pump so much money back into the machine to race it after years of riding.

start with the 250, when you think you are ready get the 400, by that time all the aftermarket stuff will be cheaper and more readily available anyway.

Thanks for the replies so far. I think I am going to get the Z250 for now to get some experiance on more of a sport quad before I get a full blow high performance quad. Any other opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

There are other issues to consider also. One, the Z250 is a Centrifugal Clutch (You have to shift, but you don't use a clutch), where the Z400 is a full manual clutch quad. Two, for someone your size, the Z250 will do just about anything that you want it to do, while the Z400 might be a little much. Either way, the Z250 or the Z400 is going to feel like a rocket ship compared to the 160.

I think that you will be surprised by the Z250, and I think that between the design of the quad, your smaller stature and your lower body weight, it would be the better choice. On top of that, they are already starting to come out with aftermarket performance parts for the Z250. Pipes, Filters and lots of look good stuff as well as functional safety equipment.

My wife is an inch or two taller than you, and just a few pounds lighter. She rides an Ozark 250, and can go just about anywhere that the rest of us go. The exception being really tall dunes. The Z250 being roughly 40 something pounds lighter and having more power than the Ozark, not to mention a sportier suspension, should make it an awesome Quad for smaller riders.

I should be picking her Z250 up on Monday or Wednesday. I will let you know what we think about it.

I'd get the Z400. Why buy a bike now then buy another 2 years later when you can have 1 the whole time and slowly mod it to how you want it. If you get it later then you wont have the money to mod it after you buy it new. I say buy it now, get used to it, mod it slowly, and be ready to race in a couple years.

The way I think of it...Yes I know he is small but think- He will want to keep this bike for at least a few years, and will not want to be 18/19/20 with a Z250. Trust me, I thought the exact same way with my Warrior. I only had it for 8 months before I had to move on. There are people I know that are smaller than him who ride DS650's...it took them a while to get used to it, but now they love it. I am just thinking down the road a little when that POWER CRAVE kicks in!!!
