Default Z cutting out in 2nd

My Z400 has been kinda cutting out in 2nd under hard acceleration. It seems to happen when the engine is just warmed up but even after its warmed up its still there. Sometimes its fine but it seems like its when I've been riding for a while. Its ONLY in 2nd gear which is weird. Does it have something to do with my clutch or gears or is it just a warm up thing? It just cuts out for about one second or two and then it goes. I was just a little concerned and was wondering if there was a simple answer. Thanks.

Sounds like it may be starving for fuel.

thats what it sounds like to me its a fuel problem. a dirty petcock can raise havoc on your motor. causing a lean fuel ratio
or you have a carb that just needs to be cleaned. susuki had problems with the petcock on the 03 getting plugged up or not working at all

i had the same symptoms and thought it was a fuel issue. instead my cylander was a pitted up and i had to get a rebuild. Probally a fuel problem though with you.

Sometimes vacuum operated petcocks can't flow enough fuel with a modded engine or just being high in the rpms for a while. Try cleaning everything like mucky said. And make sure the vacuum line to the petcock is good. You have less vacuum at full throttle than at closed throttle.
