setting up a carburetor 04 suzuki LT80

i've struggled for a few weeks with this atv. i realized last night that it was running rich. i adjusted the needle in the carb. it is running great now. how do you know what the right/wrong setting is??

seems to have good power. I saw your site. looks great. printed off the "problems of jetting" the other night for my neighbor(he has a friend who is buying a brand new yamaha and feels that it needs jetted) My dad was a mechanic all his life and I kind of agree with him. You can do alot with stock!

right/wrong~~ plug color is how you know.
The LT is jetted fat from the factory. If the needle adjustment worked (running fine) then that's great.

plugs can lie to , race fuel can sling lead and prematurly color a plug , read the pocelin /ceramic it should be a nice cholate light brown, the outter circle should be the same not wet
