I have a 2005 suzuki ozark and I am getting alot of valve chatter at high rpm and when I am accelerating up hill. I had the valves adjusted but it still does it, anyone have any suggestions?
Also ozarks have a carb drain screw and a hose that runs behind the motor to drain the carb and for some reason it leaks gas out that tube all the time. I have tightened the drain screw as tight as possible but it still drips out that hose when the atv is running. Any help on this would also be appreciated.

Valve clatter will keep pace with the motor rpms. As the motor revs up, the frequency of the clatter should incease as well. Is that the case? Did you have someone else do the adjustment..or did you? Does it sound ok at idle?
You can tighten all you want on that screw, and it wont stop the leaking. The tube serves 3 purposes. Its a drain, which is worked by the screw. Its a vent, and its also the overflow tube.
If you click on the camera to the left, youll see a picture of a float bowl on my gallery, and youll see the brass tube sticking up. Thats the vent/overflow. The drain is at the very bottom of the bowl.
When gas wont stop leaking, the needle and seat are being held open, usually by dirt or crud. You can try going to pri on the gas tank, and letting the gas flow into a can. While its flowing, tap lightly on the float bowl, with the back end of a screwdriver, and sometimes, thats all it will take, to dislodge the crud. If that doesnt work, the float bowl will need to come off, and youll have to manually clean the seat and float needle.

If it was making the noise before the adjustment, then id say its something else. Did they give it listen when you had it in for the adjustment?
Hows the oil level, and how long has it been in there?
Noises are hard to figure out online...but check for loose bolts on the exhaust and motor. It might just be a loose heat shield.
The dealer has the service manual, and maybe clymer makes them by now. You could also try servicemanuals.com

I dont know if they listened you have to get up to highway speeds to hear it 25- 30 (I do alot of road riding) and I have never heard the valves rattle while riding in the field or woods just on the higyway. I change oil every 2 -3 months and this time I used 20w30 to see if that helped which it did some. The noise is for sure in the top end and really sounds like valves but could timing chain? Also even though it is a 2004 it purchased new in july of 2005 and it is really never been rode alot nor hard. As for the clymer and haynes no luck I have been looking for months on there website. Also thanks for all the help.

Well guys thanks for all the help, I am needing a bigger atv anyway and I am tired of the problematic ozark so I am trading it tommarow for a 06 Honda Rancher. They are giving me $2500.00 trade in which I think is great.

Bad news is a guy bought the Ozark and the timing chain snapped or came off and killed the motor. Good news is the dealer is going to help him out with the repairs, and I love my new Rancher.
