Default dim lights... just rewind your stator

I have an 86 230s and I had the problem of really dim lights, I went to an electrical shop bought some 22g mag wire and epoxy sat down and rewound my old one I saved myself around 70 bucks. The wire and epoxy cost $15.00 and it wasn't difficult at all. Just make sure you wind the same way it came off and make sure you rub off the coating on the wire before crimping your connections.. I also wound 2 extra layers so I should have higher amperage, but I don' know for sure. headlight is brighter than when it was new.

everyone doesn't have those skills. if they added to many windings or not enough it wouldn't work correctly. people who wind them for a living have machines that wind the coil, makes it alot easier than doing it by hand.

People would be amazed at the project they could do. I feel that ALOT of the members on this forum could do this repair. I also think that tips like these are one of the things this forum is missing.

Sorry I know I am new here but I just hate when someone comes across so negatively about taking on a project (especially when he/she is speaking for others).

That is probably one of the greatest ideas that I've read on here. Yeah, so I just started posting here, that's still a great idea.

Rewinding is complicated, but the way you do the wind will affect the performance (amps) the stator will put out. It's called winding patterns, and it's EASY to do by hand, but you would need to have pictures showing how to do this. Anyone want to take a shot at it?
