I own a 2003 z400 and have installed a hole yoshi system, jet kits and an air filter i want more power out of the bike what else can i do. I want to get a cdi but how much more power will it add ive hear it will harm my piston alot is it worth it.I also like the yoshi big bore kit its about $800 and will add 70cc will that make a huge difference . help me i want more power and dont know what else to add to my bike.

depending on what cdi you get depends on the power you get. some just give you an extra 1000 rpm and others will change the timing
for more power and give the extra 1000 rpm . I have the Dana CDI and love it. going high compression will help but you have to use higher octane fuel
the big bore kits are nice. having the head ported and installing set of stage 2 cams add power
I run a 470 bigbore, came complete with cylinder and piston, I had the head ported and polished with the cams when I had my 440
changed the carb to a 41mm and I doubled the HP from stock, so depending on how much you want to go it can be costly
on average, carb $300/500, cams $300, good cdi $300, bigbore kit $300/1000, porting $150/300

Well you could go with nos but chances are it could blow your bike and that would be a headache to mess with.

problably the cheapest way to add power to the bike is mess with the sprockets and find out what combo is best for more top end or torque but it sounds as if you want the speed more.

right now i'm running stock gearing 14/40,sometimes 13/39. 14/40 is what I use when i'm just out for a joy ride and not really doing hard riding, when at the dunes its 13/40 or 13/39 depending on my mood at the time, I might go back to 15/40 if I was into racing anymore. but after my crash a year ago the body is almost completely healed, still have back problems, so racing is done for me, I mostly ride to relax and see new places i've never been
