May be buying an 03,and just wanted a little input as to what to look out for. I know the newer ones had the corrosion issue, just wanted to see if anyone has other input to look for. Frame holding up ok, or where should I look for damage/cracks? Any place prone to leaks?

Thanks for the help, hope to buy it in the next week.

Go for it Scooter!!! My 03 has been perfect!!

Like mentioned before check the upper shock mounts real good for rust, chips in the paint, cracks and fresh paint. Listen to the motor real well as some have been known to stretch the timing chain pretty good. Make sure the tranny shifts smooth. I think the Z has one of the smoothest shifting trannys out there so it shouldn't have any notchy feeling to it. Other then those specific areas just look the whole thing over like you would anything else and ask lots of questions. Make sure to check the oil too! Anybody that doesn't change the oil when trying to sell it never cared enough to change it when they rode it, at least that's my thinking anyways.

Good luck........

Hopefully, I'll get to look at it on Wednesday. Figured I'd check the oil before I start it and after I've ridden it. Has all new plastic, so that kinda makes me wonder. But it it's all good, the plastic is just a bonus. Then I'll have to buy new graphics.

It's not new plastic, it was painted. Not too keen on that. Just another reason for the price to come down.
