cam chain ?
#1
when im drag racing i take off in 2nd.it leaves the line hard, but when i shift into 3rd it feels like im losing some torque. im not sure if i have the jetting off on the new carb or if its caused by my timing chain being loose. i have about 2 clicks on my adjuster right now . i have a new chain and its going on this week. can your cams jump time because off a loose chain? and if they do how would it effect it. my bike should be running harder than what it is.

no they cant jump time because of the chain guide thats above it. but if its loose it changes the valve timing a little and you loose power.
thats what mine did, plus I had weak valve springs to add to the problem

depending on which curve its on it could retard or advance the spark, to far advanced will cause heat and to much retarding can give backfires in the intake, I run the dana cdi and have it on #3 it retards it a little from stock, i've tried #1, #2 and #4 and it makes mine run like crap. #3 for me is the best
try running it in all the positions and see what runs the best

i have 9 settings on mine. 3 curves stock rpm, then +1000 and +2000. i run it on #5 ,2nd curve with +1000. i had it on #6 the other day.????? i went riding to day and put it on 5. ran alot better!!!! i think when im dragging i stay in 2nd to long. i start off in 2nd, i shifted into 3rd alot sooner and it felt strong!!! my bike revs up fast!! even trail riding ,i hardly ever use 1st gear.
my buddy/mechanic is going to do my timing chain this week ,so... hopefully im going to get it running right.thanks for the help again mucky!!
